How to start PcVue if the number of licensed I/O variables is exceeded
PcVue only checks the number of configured I/O variables against the number allowed by the license at startup. If PcVue finds more variables in its configuration than are allowed it will not start.
You cannot start PcVue if you have exceeded the number of variables allowed by the license. Instead, you will have to recover an earlier version of the PcVue variable configuration. If you have not taken a recent backup of the project, you can use the following procedure:
-
Locate the folder containing the project on which you are working.
-
Open the CTEMP folder and copy the file VAREXP.DAT (the variables tree definition file).
-
Open the C folder and rename the existing file from VAREXP.DAT to VAREXP.BAK.
-
Paste in the copy of VAREXP.DAT from the CTEMP folder.
-
The copy of VAREXP.DAT in CTEMP is written each time PcVue is successfully started.
