Summary:

This article describes how to prevent a memory leak from the Graphics Device Interface (GDI) when a mimic is opened or closed on a platform running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003.


Details:

The memory leak occurs with:

  • Windows XP when the Windows XP theme is used
  • Windows Server 2003 when the Themes service is started. (By default, that service is disabled.)

Solution

Either:

  • Use the Classic theme.
  • Download a patch (‘hotfix’) from a Microsoft web site (below).
