Problem:

Since Version 6 of remote desktop connexion, the option /console does not open a console session but instead opens a client session. The option is effectively ignored. This new version was automatically integrated in Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. (Mstsc.exe file located in Windows\system32 directory.)

Solution:

In order to open a console session you must use the /admin option. Use of the option /console with Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista SP1 generates an error “An unknown parameter was specified in the computer name field“
