The Things Network is a global, open, free, and decentralized crowdsourcing project. Volunteers set up and maintain LoRaWAN gateways to transmit long-range radio signals from energy-efficient sensors to control centers via the Internet. These signals—such as measurement data from electricity or water meters, CO2 sensors, etc.—are processed and sent to defined receivers.
