PcVue all versions with support for Windows 2000, XP and NT.

Summary:

This article provides reference data for the RS485 communication card for working with PcVue.

Details:

This article provides reference data for the RS485 PCI communication card from National

Instruments:

  • PCI cards, reference NI PCI-485(I)/X,I where the ‘I’ option means “Isolated” and X means 2/4 or 8 output ports.
  • PXI cards, reference NI PXI 8421/X (for isolated cards) or NI PXI 8423/X with 2/4 or 8 COM ports.

Warn

PXI format is only available with the PXIXXXX PC from National Instruments.

  • ISA Cards, reference AT-485(I)/X,I with or without isolation, where X means 2/4 outputs ports
  • Connection:
    • Cards with 2 ports and 4 ports are not shipped with cables.
    • Cards with 2 ports have DB9 male connectors.
    • Cards with 4 ports use phone jack connectors.

Note

For the latter, you must order a special cable phone jack to DB9 male.

When you install the driver delivered with the card, it will add 2/4 or 8 COM ports declared in Windows (e.g. COM3 to COM7).

When you configure the CIMWAY32 communication settings, you just declare the corresponding COM port. You need not check the Modem Handshaking box.

Note

For this to work directly, the PC has to have an internal speaker (NOT a sound card).
