Summary:

Possibility to temporize the invalidation of variables due to communication failure.

Details:

There is the possibility, since PcVue 7.10c, to temporize the invalidation of variables due to equipment communication failure. Prior to this you only had the choice to invalidate variables or not. A value of -1 was used to indicate that variables were never made invalid.

The timeout is the period, after the first failure to read the frame to which they are attached, after which the variables are flagged as invalid. Note that an equipment is only flagged as failed after 3 failed attempts to read a frame. That is after the first failure to read a frame plus 2 re-tries at the normal scan rate.

Example – a frame is polled at a 1 second rate. The Timeout Before Invalidating Equipment Variables is set to 10 seconds. On failure of the equipment:

  • The equipment is flagged as failed after 3 seconds.
  • The variables linked to the frame are set to invalid after a further 7 seconds (10 in total).

Configuration from version 7.10c to version 8.00:

In Configure/Communication/Option, you can configure the “timeout before invalidating equipment variable”.
