WebVue Overview

WebVue is a web portal designed to display PcVue mimics in a Web browser.

See Web and Mobile Client Applications Overview for an overview of Web & Mobile client applications, including their common requirements and deployment steps.

The configuration steps specific to WebVue access to PcVue are as follows:

  • Make sure mimics and SCADA Basic scripts are designed in a suitable way for WebVue, not employing features that are either not supported, or not-applicable,
  • Make sure you have used the scope of variables appropriately to manage concurrent access to some features or mimics, in particular for user inputs in mimics.

This book includes detailed information about how to design your project so that users can successfully take advantage of the WebVue client:

For security reasons, the OAuth database password and encryption key are unique per deployment, meaning websites cannot be copied from one server to another.

Run time environment

WebVue provides a run time environment only. The configuration that determines its operation is the PcVue project, including the mimic files and user configuration, and is supplied by PcVue Web back end along with the real-time data. WebVue clients communicate with PcVue Web back end via the web server.

The PcVue desktop application must be used to configure the mimics. The PcVue web back end and the web server must be running for WebVue to connect.

Each WebVue client that is connected and in use imposes a workload on the PcVue Web back end and on the web server. These computers require sufficient resources to support WebVue clients.

Licensing WebVue

The components necessary to run WebVue are included either on the PcVue distribution media or on the Windows distribution media.

The maximum number of simultaneous WebVue client sessions that the PcVue Web back end manages is license-protected. There is no licensing requirement for the web server or for any computer that is running the WebVue client in a web browser.
