Summary:

How to communicate in NetDDE with Windows XP.

Details:

Object:

It seems to be more difficult to configure such a communication on Windows XP than on an older OS like Windows 2000 or NT.

Security configuration is more complex on XP.

Solution:

To do on each computer before configuring your NETDDE conversation:

-Start the DSDM DDE network service then start the DDE network Service.

-NetBios over TCP/IP must be activated, otherwise it doesn’t work.

-NetBios Number must be well configured, number 0 on the Network Card (see AILANA tool) for both machines.

-To facilitate the connection it is recommended that the user on the client station exist on the server station (same login and password).

Tests made with one “Windows XP PRO SP3” and one “Windows XP Family SP3” on 2 different Workgroup.
